Technology/Attitude Talks.

 On Wednesday Toni came to the team 5 block for attitude talks.
He came and talked about the ups and downs of technology. He
also told us how far has come. Technology has moved so fast.
Who knows what it’ll be in the next 10 years. Back in the days
Toni said that they had this thing called a brick phone. It's basically
a really thick phone. You can drop it and it won't break. You can kick
it for 5 minutes and it wont even break. Now that we have small
phones like iPhone when you hear a crack you better hope it was your leg. 

COED schools

WALT: use evidence to support our arguments

Do you think COED is better than a single gender school? COED schools are better
because things like it lets both girls and boys socialize better. Plus Also being in a same
gender school will cause way more drama then it should. This essay will tell you why
coed schools are better.

COED schools are better because you can socialize more. Socializing with girls
are really important because there are gonna be a lot of girls in your life. Boys learning
with girls lets both genders prepare for the real world. When boys and girls are taught
to interact with one another, they can use the skill to do it after they graduate, and both
genders will be more comfortable collaborating with each other.

Attending in a single gender school will create way more drama. Being in an all boys
school, or an all girls school are more competitive because there will be sports teams,
and that’ll mean that you will be competing with every because there the same gender.
Even in academic, how people are trying to be the smartest boy or the smartest girl.

Being a COED school means that everyone is taught equally. With both genders in the
same class together and doing activities both boys, and girls will learn about the equal
rights between boys and girls. COED schools treat students the same when they are
told to do something. There is not a time where a person gets special treatment and
all students are ranked for their work not the gender type.

COED schools are better for so many more reasons. Many people have many
different opinions on whether one is better than the other. This is just my point of view on this topic.

Is Rugby safe to play in school?

Do you play Rugby? Rugby is New Zealand biggest sport,
and many kids play it, but is Rugby safe to play at school?
Schools are starting to ban rugby at school. Do you think
rugby is safe to play in school? 

Rugby is a pretty rough sport. You could get bad injuries
like broken neck or a broken back, but if you have the right
gears you could play rugby in school grounds. Rugby at school
is good because you maybe training for a tournament, or a game.
Rugby in school should be allowed but only You have the right gear. 

Playing Rugby could be good. You never know there could be
people recruiting people to colleges. Plus every kiwi kid’s
dream is to be an all black or a warrior, and it all starts with
school or club.  

Another reason is that kids will love to play rugby. They will
be very excited to play. Kids will always love to play their
favorite sport, and will come back to class happily.  Maybe
that will be the reason why they even come school..

Rugby is a wonderful sport. Playing at school is very fun but
dangerous. It is OK to play rugby at school but as long as you
have your gear, and a ref or a coach. Do you think it's safe to
play rugby at school?

Animal Testing

WALT: Use correct paragraph structure

 Having Animal testing is pretty important. It's like choosing whether a human or an animal should live. Even though animals are cute, playful and they keep you company, humans are worth more because of things such as intelligence, and technology. This essay will tell you why we need animal testing to help us survive.

 If one of your family members are being tortured from an eternal disease would you do everything you could just to keep them alive? If letting a few disgusting rats die meant saving someone's life would you let it happen?

 People disagree with animal testing because the fact that its animals that are getting tortured. They just care for animals and i do too, but animal testing is for humans. Humans obviously need to live. Animal testing is needed for humans to survive.

Fun fact, Humans share most genes with a rat, Humans and rats are warm blooded, and we both are likely to have the same disease, so it would make sense why they test it on rats and mice. They also suffer from things like cancer, Flue, and asthma.

 Animal testing on zebra fish will also probably be good because they could find a cure for unborn or new born babies who are already suffering from bad diseases. Zebra fish are another animal who have so much in common with humans. Zebra fish and humans share roughly 70 percent of the same genes. 

Scientist have been animal testing for a long time now, but although their trying to find cures they still haven't found any yet. That's starting to be a problem because their just killing animals, but they will eventually find some cures. What do you think about animal testing?

Task Description: Room 4 literacy class has had this discussion for 2 weeks now.  We learnt so much about it now and we had to write an essay about our opinion. Everybody had different opinions.

Task Description: In room 1 we had to do a presentation about an octopus.

 We watched a ted video where a guy was talking all about octopuses. We gathered

 all our ideas we could get from that video and make a blog post. 

We learnt so many things. 

Scratch Project

  This is my scratch project. In this project we had to draw the world map
  and three back rounds of any place in the word. We had to draw it on
  hyper studio and then transfer that on to our scratch. After that we
  had to make a little avatar and make him say stuff like introducing the
  three places that we draw and the latitude and longitude of that place.

Minecraft Information Report

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks, removing blocks, and going on adventures. It was made by Markus Persson. Minecraft was also made Minecraft is also a multiplayer game which means you can play with anyone around the world. In Minecraft there are two different modes Creative, and Survival.

In Survival you have to Try survive day and night. Survival mode is one of the main game modes in Minecraft. You have to make amour, and weapons to help you survive longer. Players must collect resources, build bases, Fight monsters, eat, and explore the world and survive. There are no levels, or points. It can be played by one to twenty players! You can play for as long as you want day and night, Rain or shine. It is like starting life from scratch because you need materials to make something good. The aim of the game is to clock it by going to the ender portal and defeat the ender dragon and just survive.

Well in creative it is a whole different story. In creative instead of having to make stuff get another thing you can get anything you want straight off the bat. You also do not take any damage. Mobs will still spawn, but won't attack you. Creative mode is mostly made for people who want to free build, and build massive structures without having to worry about anything getting in your way. This will also make you have an ability to fly by double jumping.

 Overall Minecraft is a fantastic game. You should try it. It may of died but it is still fun to play with family, and friends.

Little red riding hood.

 Once upon a time there lived a little girl. Her mother had a little red riding hood made for her. Everybody called her Little Red Riding Hood. One day her mother said to her “Go and see how your grandmother is doing, because she has been very ill.” Little Red Riding Hood went out immediately. As she was going through the wood, she met with a wolf. He asked her where she was going. “I am going to see my grandmother.” “Does she live far off?” said the wolf. “It is near that tree is you see there”. It was not long before the wolf arrived at the grandmas house. He knocked at the door. Tap, tap, tap. “Who’s there?” “Your grandchild, Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf, But the wolf was actually faking it The grandmother called out, “Pull the string, and the latch will go up.” The wolf pulled the string and the door opened, and then he immediately fell upon the good woman and ate her up in a moment. He then shut the door and got into the grandmother’s bed, expecting Little Red Riding Hood, who came some time afterwards and knocked at the door. Tap, tap, tap. “Who’s there?” “It is your grandchild, Little Red Riding Hood.” The wolf cried out, “Pull the string, and the latch will go up.” Little Red Riding Hood pulled the string, and the door opened. “Grandmother, what big arms you have!” “Grandmother, what big ears you have!” “Grandmother, what big eyes you have!” “Grandmother, what big teeth you have got!” “All the better to eat you up with.” Fortunately, a hunter was passing nearby the hut. He heard the wolf, and recognised him right away. He ran over to the window. He took a good aim, and that was the end of the wolf.

Scary Night

I was closing up the shop one night after a long shift. As I was carrying a
rack of drinks into the fridge, I slipped on the wet floor I had just mopped,
fell to the floor, and let out a loud“Aaah!”

Immediately after as I’m sitting on the wet floor, I hear a low pitched groan. I
t was so audible that I actually thought it was a real person. This was scary
since I was the only person left in the shop. I stood up, completely frozen,
and shouted, “hello?!”

Again, immediately, I hear the same low-pitched groan, except this time it
was louder. Now I’m starting to freak out a little bit, but for whatever reason,
I decide to walk closer to where I heard the sound coming from. I yell very
loudly, “HELLO??!”

For the third time, I now hear a VERY loud, low-pitched groan.
That was it for me. I ran back into the kitchen, grabbed the biggest mop I
could find (because that seemed smart at the time) grabbed my bag, ran
out the door, and never looked back.

It was funny trying to explain to the manager the next day why he was
missing a mop during his morning work. But the creepiest part that I
come to find out that there was a accident that had occurred in the shop
years before, with the daughter of the owner a that had died right there in
the shop. I quit the job and never came back to that shop again.

Polyfest

Yesterday on Wednesday we went to Polyfest.
Polyfest is New Zealand's largest schools cultural event,
with almost 10,000 performers every year. It is held across
Aotearoa, it is a chance for schools to showcase their cultural
performance talents in a competitive, but community focused
environment.

It was really fun. We had 4 different pods. I was in pod 3.
There were a lot of food, and drinks that were a really high
price but I still got some. There were also heaps of games too. Here a some photos from Polyfest.

Stardome trip

On Thursday The year 5 and 6’s Went to stardom. We had to pay 3 dollars. We got there by bus. We have 6 groups , and i was in group 4 with , Jayden, Amelia, Naomi, Rosaleen, and Daniella.

When we first got there we had to wait because we arrived very early, so miss stickland told us to play on their playground to kill time. There was a flying fox, a spider web, and a octopus. I just played on the flying fox because it looked fun. Miss stick-land called us back in.

There was a lady That took us in I don't know what her name was. She Told us to go inside stardom and look at the Creations. It took about 15 - 20 minutes to look at the place it was so amazing. There was a screen That showed all the people that went to the moon.

We went inside this space room, it was dark. We sat down so that the lady Would tell us information about space. After that we had a quiz. When the quiz was done we watched a movie. It was so long i nearly fell asleep.

I learned That You can see jupiter, and saturn at night time. The stars also make images of different things, like maui's hook. All the nights onward I look up and try to see planets.

Creative Writng

Walt: create a piece of writing using my sense Walt: to create a strong plan before I begin my writing. 

Hi My name is kruz it’s the weekend tomorrow. Me and Leonidas are going to camp in the forest for the weekend for fun. We Pack our stuff that we needed, ‘Don't forget the tent’’ I say to Leonidas. So he rushes to get the tent.

I think It's time to go now. So we walk to the nearest forest. 4 minutes later we arrive at the forest. We lay our stuff down and set our tent up. We set the tent up and put all our stuff in it. ‘‘Its getting dark’’ I say. Leonidas agrees. We get in our sleeping bags and rest till the next day.

In the middle of the night i keep hearing creepy sounds. ‘‘Tic Tac’’ I hear but in a creepy voices. I was so scared, and i was the only one awake which is even worse. I tiptoe out side, and flash my flashlight. I see nobody but only hear somebody, It's so weird so i go deeper in the forest. It suddenly gets silent…

I have shivers down my spine, butterflies in my stomach and all sorts of feelings. It gets dark and i see 2 lights. ‘Eyes?’ I think to myself. ‘‘RAAAAA!!’’ Shouted Leonidas. I nearly pooped myself. I nearly died, But he got me good.

I couldn't believe it, He set this up all by himself. At least it wasnt real like a horror movie, It could've ended up worst. After that heart attack we went hunting for food, and we had a good time.
