Week One - Day One SLJ: In the Beginning

ACTIVITY 1
This story dates back Way way back about 700 years ago. New Zealand was discovered,
and settled by a group of Polynesians according to most people in new Zealand.
They had to master teamwork, because if they use team than that will make their dream work.
So what they did was teamwork, and they assembled a very special culture that we still know
today Maori. There is a Maori dance which is named the haka, there are more than one haka.
The haka first haka was made in 19th century.

ACTIVITY 2
The first settlers to come to New Zealand must have been really brave!
They had to leave their own homes, and go sail thousands of miles across the ocean.
It is amazing that they have did that. They sailed on a boat called a waka to new Zealand.

Bonus Activities
From this very day people actually still use this boat called a waka to go places to archive stuff,
and for special things like ceremonies and more. They used it for Waka ama.
Waka ama is a competition where ladies, and men compete to get to the finish line first

Here's a video WAKA AMA.
